It started with a landing page

Augment's co-founders reached out in summer 2022, referred by a past client. They needed a landing page. Something to show investors while they raised. The app existed. It had no public face and no design foundation.

The landing page was live within a week. They were happy with the work. Then they asked if I could take on the product design. I've been working with them since.

I was one of their first hires, early enough to be in on decisions. When we started, the team was two founders and few engineers. It's 48 people now. That's been the relationship from the start.

Summer 2022

‍It began in the summer of 2022 with a referral and a narrow window of time. The founders of Augment needed a landing page. Something to show investors while they prepared for a raise. We launched their first landing page in under a week. That initial project proved the pace, and the relationship quickly deepened. I transitioned from a contractor tasked with a single deliverable to becoming one their first design hires.

Becoming part of the team

‍In the early days, Augment was just two founders and a handful of engineers. I was there for every decision, sitting in on all-hands and engineering calls as we laid the first bricks. The app itself existed, but it lacked a design foundation. We faced a significant trust challenge: we were building a platform for accredited investors to trade private shares in companies like Stripe and SpaceX, but the early UI lacked the visual weight to match that ambition. I rebuilt the web app from the ground up, establishing the visual hierarchy and clarity necessary for a serious financial platform.

Scaling with the company

‍As the company grew from a handful of people to 48, my role expanded alongside it. We migrated the marketing site to Webflow, built out a robust CMS, and eventually underwent a comprehensive rebrand to reflect the product’s maturity. I became responsible for the product design, mobile web experience, email campaigns, print materials, and social graphics.

When Augment closed their $12M Series A in 2025, the platform had scaled to 10,000+ users and $1B+ in assets under management.

The value of four years of context

‍Most client relationships are defined by a single project or a handoff. This has been different. Today, I operate with the benefit of four years of context. Whether it is navigating complex compliance requirements or pivoting a UI flow based on years of user feedback, I already understand the founders' vision and the team's needs.

There is no playbook for designing access to private markets at this level. We’ve been creating the patterns as we go, proving that the most effective design isn't just about pixels but it's about the trust built over time.
